Abstract

|
William J. Hall was a Methodist missionary who came to Korea in 1891 and died in 1894 in Korea. The medical mission of Methodist was started by William B. Scranton who came to Korea in 1885. He established Si Hospital June 15 in 1886. It was Halal who came to Korea by the i q uest of Scranton. In spite of persecution, Hall got into action of medical mission around Pyeongyang from 1893. In 1894, when the Sino-Japan War occured, he healed the injured in the face of danger. But he died of typhoid fever in 1894. After he died, his wife Rosettar continued to doing medical works by establishing Hall Memorial Hospital and Gwanghye Women¢¥s Hospital. These two hospitals and Presbyterian Hospital were united into Pyeongyang Union Christian Hospital
